We have 1 artwork by Jörg Immendorff online. We have 1824 paintings online.
In the series 'Café Deutschland', Immendorff explored relations between the FRG and the GDR in conversation with Penck from 1977 onwards. The coffee house situation is visible in the earlier pictures of the series. The ice floe dominating here in the form of the five-pointed Soviet star evokes the Cold War between the two systems and Heine's 'Germany, a Winter's Tale'. The title refers to the quadriga on the Brandenburg Gate, which stood at the centre between East and West Berlin at the Wall.
