Adèle Astaire (1897-1981), the sister of dancer and actor Fred Astaire, sang and danced with her brother on Broadway in New York in a series of highly successful musicals. In 1926 she appeared on a tour in London, where Kokoschka painted her. On the grand piano on the left is a score, probably to her song 'Lady be Good', with a painting of 'Leda and the Swan' visible behind it.
