The first version of this composition is dated 1730 (Paris, Louvre); the present one is probably the second of the approximately thirty replicas, varied in staffage, which allow the progress in the decoration of St. Peter's to be traced. The figures of Moses and Noah in the lunette on the left, for example, do not yet correspond to the mosaics executed in 1737-1739 after cartons by Francesco Trevisani.In: Kunsthaus Zürich.
