The painting dated 1907 on the reverse is still very close to the mural 'The Dream' from 1905.
The unusual interpretation of the original sin, a favorite theme of Symbolism and Art Nouveau, emphasizes the innocence of the event in the absence of the apple, in the cyclical nature of the snake, which reminds one of the old symbol of infinity, and the all-encompassing rhythm of the decorative as a symbol of the order of the cosmos.
