We have 9 artworks by Giovanni Segantini online.
We have 1824 paintings online.
Segantini first called the last openly symbolic composition 'Der Spiegel der Venus', inspired by Edward Burne-Jones, and then 'Der Quell des Bösen': it is the young woman who, like Eve, becomes aware of her sexuality, at first narcissistically enjoying herself. In this sense, the concept forms the negative counterpart to 'Liebe am Brunnen des Lebens' (1896; Milan, Galleria d'Arte Moderna). The luminous background with the little stream, the round dance and the approaching man point to the vitalistic development of love.
