Ferdinand Hodler1853 Bern – 1918 Genf

Around the large composition 'Der Auserwählte' (1893/94; Kunstmuseum Bern), several paintings were created showing the boy, Hodler's son Hector, alone, called 'Adoration'. At the beginning there is a detailed watercolour drawing in the Kunstmuseum Winterthur (see Ferdinand Hodler (exh. cat. Zurich/Berlin, Nationalgalerie/Paris, Musée du Petit Palais 1983), no. 41) or the present painting, which is practically identical in composition (see inv. 1042, inv. 1043, inv. 1044, inv. 1045).In: Kunsthaus Zürich.
