Right part of a composition cut in two by Hodler himself, which he exhibited in Geneva in 1878 under the title 'Un cas de conscience' (English: a question of conscience). The original condition has survived in a small illustration and its preparatory drawing. The sitter is probably the same fellow student who appears as an ensign in the 'Turnerbankett', the engraver Jouard.
