Ferdinand Hodler1853 Bern – 1918 Genf
We have 150 artworks by Ferdinand Hodler online.
We have 1824 paintings online.
As early as May/June 1912, Hodler must have envisioned the present second version of the Hanoverian Reformation Oath (see inv. 1964/19); initially for the Parisian Salon d'Automne of 1912, but since this contradicted the arrangements with Hanover, the execution took place for the most part in Spring/Summer 1913 with a new interpretation of the main figure for the following Salon. At the Swiss National Exhibition in Bern in 1914, 'Einmütigkeit' was the only painting by Hodler to be exhibited.
