Grandson of the Landshut-born physician Caspar Schneeberger, son of the pharmacist Hans, who was a cousin of Hans Leu the Elder; bailiff of Oetenbach 1532, died 1537. The attribution to Hans Leu is based on the close stylistic relationship to the panels with the city saints in the Swiss National Museum, which are archivally confirmed for Leu.
