Painted together with Vogel's 'Zürichs Eintritt in den Bund der Eidgenossen 1351' (inv. 145) for the Schützenfest festival pavilion to mark the 500th anniversary of Zurich's admission to the Swiss Confederation. The right half is painted by Oeri, the left half by Zeller; the horse by Koller.
The Battle of Dättwil was fought by the people of Zurich under Mayor Rudolf Brun against the Austrians in 1351.
