Am Zürichhorn (Studie)

In 1861 Koller's father sold the brewery "Zur Tanne" and at the same time the painter lost his other studio in the Künstlergüetli (English: artist's residency, former location of the Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft. In December he bought the property on the Hornau on the Zürichhorn, a promontory on the lake near the city. On the meadow with a view of the mountains he painted his grazing models; most of the following scenes with cattle by the water were created there. Source
