The panel was reduced, probably in 1524 on the occasion of the removal of the paintings from the Zurich churches, by a figure on the right, probably a non-biblical saint, and at the same time provided with the noticeable inscription. The painting suffered particularly on the left and below due to the transfer to canvas and back to a solid support in 1989; golden ground renewed.
