The 16 wall panneaux on themes from 'One Thousand and One Nights' were created in 1911 as decorative furnishings for a room in the house of Hugo Cassirer in Berlin. Scheherazade (also Scharsad from Persian: شهرزاد, DMG: Šahrzād) is one of the main characters from the main plot of the stories of 'One Thousand and One Nights'.
