It depicts the miraculous transfer of the lifeless body of the martyr Restituta from Africa to the island of Ischia. In heaven, Mary is asked by St. Gennaro to grant the wish of Parthenope (the personification of Naples), depicted in the form of a siren, to keep such a great treasure in her city. Workshop repetition after a lost model for Luca Giordano's ceiling painting of 1692 in Santa Restituta, a church belonging to the building complex of Naples Cathedral (cf. Oreste Ferrari/Giuseppe Scavizzi: Luca Giordano, Naples 1966, vol. II, p. 170 f., vol. III, fig. 339).
