View of the old Tell's chapel near Sisikon, which was built around 1590 on the site of the late medieval first chapel dedicated to the patron saint of archers, Sebastian. Some of the painting dates back to the construction period; the impression was more strongly influenced by the renovations of the Uri painters C. L. Püntner (1719) and Franz Jakob Püntner (1768/69). At Vogel's time, the building and the frescoes were in a precarious condition, and Vogel considered repainting this national memorial, which is dedicated to Tell's leap from the Vogt's ship. But it was only after 1872 that the present building with Stückelberg's frescoes was erected. - In 1833, Vogel had painted the annual pilgrimage of Stand Uri to the Tell's chapel, which he executed in large format in 1848 (Schweizerisches Landesmuseum).
