Exhibited in 1805 as a portrait of the surgeon Johann Conrad Holzhalb (1729-1817/19), known in the city for his unlimited curiosity. The model for the composition may be the 'Old Man at the Window' by Samuel van Hoogstraeten (1653, Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum), whom Corrodi had met during his years in Vienna.In: Kunsthaus Zürich.
