The actress Christiane Henriette Koch, née Merleck (Leipzig 1731-Berlin 1804) made her debut in Vienna in 1748 and in the same year married the actor and later theatre director Gottfried Heinrich Koch (1703-1775); she acted in Lübeck, Hamburg, Leipzig and Berlin, where her husband ran a theatre in Behrenstrasse from 1771, which she briefly continued to run as a widow and soon after sold to Doebbelin.
