During the night, Cosmas and Damian replace the sick leg of Deacon Justinian in his sleep with that of an Ethiopian who died shortly before. The small panel, together with eight others, formed the predella of the so-called Annalena Altar. It comes from the Dominican monastery of San Vincenzo d'Annalena in Florence, which was only built in 1453. Its main panel, together with six scenes from the predella, is today in the Museo di San Marco in Florence. The style of execution points to Zanobi Strozzi, as a comparison with the miniatures assigned to him shows.
