The work belongs to a small group of sculptures that were created in the mid-thirties as a result of the study of Miró. As can be seen on an old sketch, there were two small antenna-like structures at the top of the large plate (see Fig. 40 in Calder/Miró (exh. cat. Riehen/Washington 2004)). The sculpture can be rotated on its support; the plates are elastic and can be set in vibration.
