Mentioned in Rigaud's 'Livre de raison' under the year 1685, for the price of 330 pounds. Together with his brother Hans Jakob, the sitter (Zurich 1638 - Paris 1702) was one of the leading gun and bronze founders under Louis XIV. He cast the King's equestrian statues for Lyon and Paris as well as sculptures for the park in Versailles. The painting shows a casting based on the ancient 'Diane Chasseresse'.
The Keller family collection formed the basis of the Kunsthaus collection. Counterpart to inv. 210.
