The painting depicts a situation in Hérémence near Savièse in Valais and further develops the painting 'Vorfrühling' (1908; Georg Germann: A 'Sunday Morning' (1908-1909) by Edouard Vallet (1000 Years of Swiss Art, New York 1992), fig. 2), which is inspired by Segantini's painting 'On the Balcony' (Chur, Bündner Kunstmuseum).
For half a century, the painting was one of the most famous in Switzerland (see the references in Edouard Vallet's book (Geneva 1976)).In: Kunsthaus Zürich.
