Modello for the painting on the high altar of SS. Massimo e Osvaldo in Padua (370 x 220 cm). Saint Maximus (last quarter of the 2nd century) was the second bishop of Padua; Saint Oswald, King of Northumberland (c. 604-642 AD), brought Christianity to England. He had his bride given the ring by a raven because her father killed all suitors. Both saints were invoked against the plague.
