In June 1917, Vallotton visited the front against Germany and painted several war landscapes. The works created in Honfleur are still characterized by these impressions; the present 'Sonnenuntergang' may be considered the most extreme and intense of a whole number of such paintings.In: Kunsthaus Zürich.
